How I Became More Confident: 3 Simple Tips

Confidence has never been one of my strengths. I struggled with it a lot growing up and all throughout high school. I worried about what others thought of me, if I looked my best at school, whether or not I was "cool" enough, and the list goes on. We just want to feel accepted by our peers. And it's totally normal to feel this way! But through the years, I've grown to learn how to be more confident in my own skin.
1. Rid your mind of negative thoughts + learn how to think positive. Our negative thoughts can really ruin us sometimes. Most (probably all) are not even true! We tend to be our worst critics and our subconscious can just be so evil to us. Your mind is powerful. But don't let the negativity get to you! Be more aware of your thoughts and replace them with positive ones. When you fill it with positive thoughts, you will see a difference in your life.
2. Learn how to accept compliments. This might sound like a weird one... but it's something I actually had to learn how to do! In the past, I would find myself rejecting praise from others. Rejecting a compliment will only weaken your self-confidence– you're convincing yourself that you're not good enough. I'll be honest, in high school I'd be paranoid someone was just secretly being sarcastic.. I mean, c'mon, have you seen Mean Girls? (I guess I thought someone would try to pull a Regina George on me. If you have no idea what I'm referencing, watch this.)
So– earn the praise you receive! Stop talking yourself out of believing it. If others can see how amazing you are, you should see it in yourself! You ARE deserving of that compliment. #SLAY
