How I Became More Confident: 3 Simple Tips

Confidence has never been one of my strengths. I struggled with it a lot growing up and all throughout high school. I worried about what others thought of me, if I looked my best at school, whether or not I was "cool" enough, and the list goes on. We just want to feel accepted by our peers. And it's totally normal to feel this way! But through the years, I've grown to learn how to be more confident in my own skin.
1. Rid your mind of negative thoughts + learn how to think positive. Our negative thoughts can really ruin us sometimes. Most (probably all) are not even true! We tend to be our worst critics and our subconscious can just be so evil to us. Your mind is powerful. But don't let the negativity get to you! Be more aware of your thoughts and replace them with positive ones. When you fill it with positive thoughts, you will see a difference in your life.
2. Learn how to accept compliments. This might sound like a weird one... but it's something I actually had to learn how to do! In the past, I would find myself rejecting praise from others. Rejecting a compliment will only weaken your self-confidence– you're convincing yourself that you're not good enough. I'll be honest, in high school I'd be paranoid someone was just secretly being sarcastic.. I mean, c'mon, have you seen Mean Girls? (I guess I thought someone would try to pull a Regina George on me. If you have no idea what I'm referencing, watch this.)

So– earn the praise you receive! Stop talking yourself out of believing it. If others can see how amazing you are, you should see it in yourself! You ARE deserving of that compliment. #SLAY
3. Get to know yourself. I've realized throughout the years that finding out more about myself has made me confident. I know what makes me who I am, I know what I love to do, and I accept every flaw that I have. In high school, I didn't really have that, and I think that's what really fed into my lack of confidence. Embrace who you are and don't limit yourself. Discover what you're passionate about. Get to really know yourself and you'll come out with even greater self-confidence.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has ever supported me in what I do! I know I'm such a small little blog but doing this has brought so many opportunities that I never even imagined. Doing what I love is so fulfilling and that is truly such a great feeling. (Why am I being so gross and sappy you may ask?) Well because this post is in collaboration with American Eagle! Probably the biggest brand I've ever worked with and I'm still pinching myself that this even happened!!
